Emergency & Critical Care
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) includes a talented team of emergency-trained veterinary clinicians and technicians. The facility is fully staffed during the day, and has on-call technicians, doctors, and students during the night who handle most emergencies.
Our emergency room and ICU is equipped to provide advanced monitoring, transfusion medicine, oxygen support, and other life support techniques necessary for state-of-the-art critical care and emergency medicine. Emergency surgeries are performed by our veterinary surgeons and emergency doctors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The VTH currently includes one board-certified veterinary specialist who is a diplomate of the American College of Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) and four emergency veterinarians.
Outside of regular appointment hours (8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday), pets are seen on an emergency basis. The emergency phone number is 869-662-7080. Do not call this number for any reason other than a small animal emergency. Veterinary Teaching Hospital clinicians are not expected or required to answer questions unrelated to emergency care.
The emergency fee is EC$100.
