Additional Tips and Ideas

1. You must pre-arrange your housing prior to arriving in St Kitts. The Office of Off Campus Housing can assist you in finding housing. This will enable you to have extra time to arrange your bank account, find transportation, connect your utilities, visit the campus, and become acclimatized to St. Kitts.

2. After you have looked through the housing list and decided on a place you may like to rent, contact the landlord to ask questions and inform them of your interest to rent their apartment. In addition, be sure to tell them that the Ross Off Campus Housing Office will contact them to confirm. Email Adele Straun and Michele Cardozo the landlord's contact information.

3. Most Landlords work during the day, so evenings after 6:00 pm local time and mornings between 7-8:00 am are good times to call.

4. If you decide to rent a property, you will need to send a security deposit, equivalent to one month's rent and the rent for the complete month following your arrival, along with a pre-approved Ross University Security Deposit form, which will be sent to you from our office. We recommend using an international money order from your local Post Office or a Bank Cashiers Check from a reputable US bank as the method of payment. If you arrive in St. Kitts in the middle of a month, your rent will be prorated accordingly.

5. The University does not recommend that leases be signed prior to your arrival. The University also recommends that, at least for the first semester, you enter into a semester lease with a commitment to stay throughout the lease. A semester lease is the preferable route to take.

6. If you are bringing a pet, be cognizant of confinement requirements. Our housing officers will work closely together with you.
