• Students graduate confident and "practice ready":

RUSVM's clinical year program allows students to expand their knowledge base while focusing on their future career track.

Clinical Year Overview

The clinical year is an extremely important component of the veterinary school curriculum. During this year, RUSVM students:

  • Continue to expand upon their veterinary knowledge base.
  • Focus on their future career path via externships and electives in the fields and species that they are most interested in.
  • Gain experience and put their pre-clinical education to use in active clinical settings.

RUSVM is unique in the diversity it offers to its students during the clinical year. Our students gain the knowledge and experience of both RUSVM's and our partner school's faculty and clinicians on how to diagnose and treat clinical cases. This is a tremendous opportunity and advantage for our students to see multiple perspectives on how to practice in the future. The time allowed during the clinical year for electives and externships allow RUSVM students the opportunity to work both on and off campus in order to expand their experience and knowledge base in areas of personal interest.

Both RUSVM and our clinical partner schools strive to ensure that students will graduate confident and "practice ready" at the end of the year.
