Dr. Michael Williams, Ross University Class of ’84, Named CEO of Hill Country Memorial Health System in Texas
Dr. Michael Williams, an alumnus of Ross University School of Medicine’s class of 1984, was named chief executive officer of Hill Country Memorial Health System (HCMHS), Fredericksburg, TX. HCMHS is one of the nation’s leading rural, non-profit health care centers.
Dr. Williams, who becomes the third CEO to lead the 37-year-old system, was selected after an intensive, six-month nationwide search. He began his career at HCMHS as an anesthesiologist in 1995. Before his work at HCMHS Dr. Williams attended residency programs, with a special emphasis in critical care medicine and cardiovascular anesthesia training, at Parkland Memorial Hospital/Southwestern Medical School and the Texas Heart Institute.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to lead such a distinguished group of professionals. I am dedicated to maintaining HCMHS’s status as a leading provider of health care, particularly for people who live in rural communities,” said Dr. Williams. “At HCMHS, we will continue to provide the best medical care for our patients.”
Dr. Williams continued, “The experience and the education I acquired as a student at Ross University has provided me with the tools to become a successful leader in the medical field. I’m excited to share my experience with my colleagues at HCMHS.”
Dr. Williams received his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 1981. He also earned an MBA in health care management from Duke University.
HCMHS serves Gillespie, Blanco, Burnet, Mason, Llano, Kendall, Kerr and Kimble counties in Texas.
