Welcome to Miramar and the 5th semester Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine (AICM) course. We look forward to meeting you and getting you started on this new venture. This will be your first clinical rotation at RUSM. Our ability to successfully navigate the logistical and scheduling challenges will be greatly aided by a measure of flexibility on your part and a conscientious and responsible attitude regarding your learning experience. We will do everything we can to make this an interesting and valuable transition to the clinical sciences for you.

Meeting Venues:
Program Office/Learning Resource Center (LRC)/AICM classrooms/Miramar Program:
2300 SW 145th Avenue, Suite 200, Miramar, FL 33027 - The Program Office is located on the 2nd floor. Parking for all Ross students is free at the Program Office.
Small-group sessions and all other classroom activities (ACLS, BTLS, Harvey sessions, simulation, etc.) will take place in designated classrooms in the Miramar facility. The LRC and an additional “quiet area” with student desks also are located on the 2nd floor. The LRC has a computer resource area with a number of PCs availalbe for your use. Please note that your wireless configured laptop will work in the Miramar LRC as it did on the Portsmouth campus.
The AICM Program Office is located on the 2nd floor in Suite 200. If you need additional information, call 954-885-3700 and ask to speak with Michelle Michel, Idalia Gonzalez, Tony Ayubi, Alvaro Rosales or Janet Sofras for assistance with financial aid and housing questions. Miramar Cultural Center/Arts Park - Theater
Large Group lectures will be held at the Miramar Cultural Center which is located at 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, FL 33025. (On Red Road, North of the Miramar Parkway.) Complementary self-parking is available on-site.

From I-95:
* Take I-95, exit Hallandale Beach Blvd.
* Go West on Hallandale Beach Blvd. (Hallandale Beach Blvd. changes to Miramar Parkway at State Rd. 7/441.)
* Continue west to Red Road.
* Make right on Red Road heading north.
* After you pass Hiatus Road, the building is on the right.
From I-75:
* Take I-75, exit Miramar Parkway East.
* Go east to Red Road.
* Make left on Red Road heading north.
* After you pass Hiatus Road, the building is on the right.
From Florida Turnpike Homestead Extension:
* Exit Homestead Extension on Red Road and head north.
* After you pass Hiatus Road, the building is on the right.
The first day of the semester and AICM Orientation and Registration is Tuesday, January 17, starting at 9 am. It will take place at the Miramar Cultural Center - Theater. All students are required to attend this general orientation session.
Large-group sessions generally take place each Wednesday and start at 9 am, unless otherwise announced and will be held at the Miramar Cultural Center - Theater. Classroom lecture dress is business casual.
Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center
The Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center is located at 250 Racquet Club Road, Weston, Florida 33326. This facility, which will be used for all Comprehensive Shelf exams (starting January 20, 2012), and Midterm and Final examinations, is located approximately 8 miles north of the Miramar Program Office. The Basic Science Comprehensive "Shelf" Exam (Comp) will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012, starting at 8:00 am. Bring a picture ID. As noted, the exam will take place at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center.
You will have some free time during the week to get settled, but plan to spend at least one weekend day of the first and second weeks refining your physical diagnosis skills and participating in BLS/ACLS training. Additional schedule details will be provided as the start of the semester nears. Note that attendance at all orientation activities is mandatory. Dress is business casual.
Clinical Sites/Housing
Housing/accommodations in Miramar can take time to secure. We encourage you to contact Collegiate Housing Services, a Ross University sponsored vendor, at www.housingservices.com or by calling 800-866-8346. A searchable housing database is also available on myRoss. We are updating the information to include more information on areas closer to Miramar. There is no "ideal" place to live in Miramar with respect to proximity to where you will be doing your clinical rotations. Students get placed at various sites throughout Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, North Miami, Miramar, Hollywood, and Ft. Lauderdale during the clinical assignments. There are weekly Large-group sessions of six- to eight-hour duration in the Miramar Cultural Center - Theater and small-group activities every week at the Miramar Program Office/Student Resource Center. Computer access and administrative services are located at the Miramar Program Office. You might consider finding housing that is centrally located around these sites. Some of the communities that you might consider include Cooper City, Davie, Miami Lakes, Palm Springs, Pembroke Pines, West Miramar, Weston, North Miami, and Miami Beach.

Make plans to have a vehicle to get around Miramar. Many students pair up to travel to clinical sites with a classmate. Miramar and South Florida is principally a car-commuter city and there are livable communities inland with ready access to the major expressways.
