September 2010 Information

Welcome promoting 4th semester students and new transfer students. The 12-week Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine (AICM) 5th semester runs through Monday, September 13, 2010, to Friday, December 3, 2010.

Orientation, Registration & Comp Exam:

All students (except transfer students with a USMLE Step 1 passing score) are required to report on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 8:00 am for the Basic Science Comprehensive "Shelf" Exam (Comp). The exam will take place in the Hyatt Regency/James L. Knight Center in the Riverfront Ballroom (lobby level). The Hyatt Regency in Downtown Miami is located at 400 Southeast 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33131 (phone: 305-358-1234).

AICM Orientation and Registration check-in will occur following the Comp exam on Monday, September 13, 2010. All students are required to attend this general orientation session starting at 2:00 pm. It will take place in the Hyatt Regency/James L. Knight Center in the Riverfront Ballroom (lobby level).

*Important Information*

  • All promoting 4th semester students and incoming transfer students (who do not have a passing USMLE Step 1 score) will take the Basic Science Comprehensive “Shelf” Exam on Monday, September 13, 2010.
  • You will need to identify a means of transportation to clinical sites. If you have a vehicle and are traveling alone, or if you are sharing transportation with another student, please provide this information using the form provided in the "Registration Link" on the left.
  • Please refer the “Welcome to AICM-Miami” and “Preparing for Miami” links for information about transportation and getting around Miami, housing resources, immunization requirements, textbook and medical equipment requirements, and other information related to the upcoming semester.
  • The optional Spanish Language Track course will be offered in Miami this semester. Please indicate whether or not you intend to participate in this course through the "Check-In" link. Additional information will be provided about this course during orientation.
  • All AICM students are now required to complete an Infection Control Training Course. The course must be a New York State Education Department approved course and must be completed before the end of semester. Further information will be provided about this course during orientation.
