Review

Several days after doing practice questions, you will need to review the material. The pressure of time means you are not likely to find more than half an hour per lecture hour for this review. How will you get the most from this time?

Research shows that actively practicing recall enhances long-term retention more than spending an equivalent amount of time repeatedly reading the material.

To do this, try to reproduce your study product (concept map, table, outline, etc.) from memory. Include any additions/changes you made while working with the practice questions.

Check your work against your original. What have you forgotten?
Learn what you missed.

You may find that you are now able to simplify or reorganize your work. This repetition and reorganisation is invaluable for learning and memory.

Again, try to reproduce your latest version of your study product from memory.

Do you think you are now ready to teach the material?
