Dr. Michael Yakubovskyy is a Professor of Pathology at Ross University School of Medicine. He is a Course Director of the Pathology 1 course. In addition to teaching, Dr. Yakubovskyy is a member of the Curriculum Grievance and Examination Committee.

Dr. Yakubovskyy graduated from Vinnitsa National Medical University (Ukraine) with an MD degree in 1981 and from St-Petersburg Postgraduate Medical Academy (Russia) with a PhD degree in 1990.

After graduation, Dr. Yakubovskyy taught Pathology in Medical Schools in the Ukraine, Kenya, Seychelles and Netherland-Antilles. Dr. Yakubovskyy worked extensively on the implementation of the PBL-system into teaching process and on elaboration of Mastership Programs in Pathology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Family Medicine and Pediatrics. Along with teaching pathology, Dr. Yakubovskyy served as a consultant-pathologist in teaching hospitals; he examined thousands of surgical and FNA specimens and performed hundreds of post-mortem examinations.

Dr. Yakubovskyy's research interests were focused on Environmental Pathology; his PhD was devoted to ultrastructural changes of the endocrine system in low-dose pesticide intoxication. In his postdoctoral research Dr. Yakubovskyy investigated adverse effects of low-dose ionizing radiation and its combination with chemical carcinogens, and effectiveness of antioxidants for prophylaxis and treatment of induced injuries; besides he supervised several PhD dissertations.

Dr. Yakubovskyy is the winner of several "Best Teacher" awards at Ross University School of Medicine.
