Bahamas Site

Phase I of Ross University's brand new, 126-acre Bahamas facilities is scheduled to open in 2010; however, first and second semester students beginning the January or May 2009 terms who are currently enrolled in PAcE (i.e., those students who will be in third or fourth semester in January 2009) will move to our temporary Freeport location in January 2009.

The 30,000 square foot temporary location will include:
  • One large classroom arranged small group style, which will accommodate approximately 180 students.
  • Ten Problem-Based Learning (PBL) rooms for small group learning, which will be available for group study when class is not in session. These rooms are equipped with a 10-person table, individual computer stations linked to the campus network, and white boards.
  • Eight Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM) rooms. These rooms are similar to an examination room and are equipped with a sink, white board, exam table, and a dressing area.
  • Two study rooms located adjacent to the main classroom for individual study while classes are not in session.
  • Simulation Center with four simulation rooms, each with a full headwall (wall units that house medical gas, electrical outlets, and fixtures for monitoring equipment) typical to that found in a U.S. hospital, as well as state-of-the-art human simulator units. These rooms can be opened into one large space for group learning when needed. Space will also be available in the Simulation Center for students to practice exams on different replica models of specific areas of the human body.
  • A library with a computer lab with up to 44 computers, a student printing center, and a 24-hour quiet study room.

In addition, the temporary Bahamas location will provide students with:
  • Lockers to store books and personal belongings.
  • Student Services area with six individual kiosks for quick, self-provided interactions through MyRoss (www.MyRoss.com). There will also be a help desk for students to interact with the student support staff.
  • An IT help desk.
  • A sandwich/coffee cafe located adjacent to the library.
